Eagle's Nest

Hitler's Eagle's nest near Berchtesgaden on the Germany/Austrian Border. The "tea house was built and given to Hitler for his 5oth birthday by "the party" and the mayor of Berch. If you saw the Band of Brother's mini series it was in that. I started laughing when I saw my pictures....not one of them shows the place! Steve has some on his camera which I will download tomorrow and post on my blog then. We were about 6500 ft up...not quite as high as yesterday so I did better....no panicking, but didn't get close to the edge. Amazingly enough, Hitler was scared of heights and the pictures that were shown of him there show him standing behind everyone and really far from the edge. I went into Eva Braun's room (his girlfriend and later his wife) and as I looked at the pictures in the book and looked out of the window, I realized that I was looking out of the same window that I saw in the picture at that same time! Gaqve me cold chills. The views were spectacular though. There was a lake below called the King's Lake which was bright blue. Kristy and Lynda, I took a picture with your flatsies up there! We are leaving Bavaria tomorrow and heading back to Jake and Heather's home in Volkach...I've loved every minute of it, but now, I'm exhausted! Hard to believe that it is 4:08 p.m. there and 11:08 pm here...going to bed now! Goodnight all, love you, Deb
