Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein Castles

Hi, ya'll! I was exhausted after yesterday's sightseeing trip and didn't post any pictures, but today is another story. We got up at 4 this morning to take Steve to Frankfurt to try and catch a plane for home (standby of course). We took him into the airport and began trying to locate our luggage. Lo and behold, it was there! Both of them. Steve took his to check it in for a flight home...full of clean clothes! ha! We all said our goodbyes and good lucks and left the poor guy there. About 4 hours later, he called from a Delta Airlines phone to say he couldn't get on any of the flights...they were all over booked. He went to get a hotel room and I went to Orbitz and booked him a trip home leaving in the morning!Whew what an odessey!
Yesterday we went to Schwangau to see the castles of Ludwig I (Castle: Hohenschwangau) and Ludwig II,known as mad Ludwig(castle: Neuschwanstein...Disney copied it for Disneyland). The swan in one of the pictures is on top of Hohenschwangau. Ludwig II grew up in that castle, but when his father died, he wanted a bigger castle higher up on the mountain so he had his castle started immediately. The inside was never finished..only 4 rooms. He moved in anyway and died "mysteriously" 14 days later presumably by drowning in the lake. He broke his country....big spender. Guess there must have been a big party by the people when he died! No love lost! The area was beautiful with lakes, water falls and gorges.
Herr and Frau Wise are sporting aprons of leiderhosen and dirndle! I couldn't resist putting them on the blog!
Tomorrow we are going shopping in Jake and Heather's village...It's so wonderful here! The village is just like you would imagine it would be in a children's fairytale.
Get back to you all soon! Love you all, Deb
